JETBUS 3 — 2018

EVOLUTION OF CHARACTER, A LEAP IN INNOVATION
Jetbus 3 is the third creation and the third generation of the Jetbus Series. In this model, I worked together with Adi Putro’s internal design team to comprehensively design the front, side, rear, and interior, including functional details such as partitions and AC louvers.
Jetbus 3 marks a pivotal phase in the Jetbus design journey—moving beyond mere form development toward a more mature, original, and character-driven design identity. The most significant innovation lies in the front and rear lighting design: for the first time in Adi Putro’s history, the lighting was designed entirely in-house by the internal design team, while also becoming the first bus to implement sequential lighting technology.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
DESIGN AS IDENTITY, NOT JUST STYLE
Jetbus 3 was designed not only to appear modern, but to establish a strong and recognizable visual identity, reinforcing a consistent and evolving Jetbus design DNA.

The front and rear lamps represent the first fully original lighting design created by myself together with the Adi Putro design team, signaling design independence and the courage to move beyond conventional solutions.
A BOLD AND CONFIDENT FRONT FACE
The front design is sharper and more expressive, representing the character of a modern bus that is ready for long-distance, high-speed travel, while maintaining an elegant presence.

ORIGINAL LIGHTING AS A STATEMENT OF INNOVATION
Pioneer of Sequential Lighting in Bus Design
Jetbus 3 became the first bus to adopt sequential lighting, a technology previously associated with premium passenger cars, now applied to enhance both aesthetics and visibility.

Sporty Side Variation
The side design variations flow with an aggressive character, forming well-balanced, stable, and aerodynamic proportions while conveying a sporty and dynamic identity. The upper side lighting design further reinforces this impression, adding an active and modern visual accent along the entire bus body.

Functional and Modern Rear Design
The rear design goes beyond visual appeal, emphasizing efficient component layout, improved airflow management, and ease of maintenance.

Interior as a Spatial Experience, Not Just a Cabin
The Jetbus 3 interior was designed using a spatial approach where partitions, AC louvers, and other interior elements are visually and functionally integrated, creating a more open atmosphere while enhancing comfort for long-distance travel.

Balance Between Aesthetics and Manufacturability
Every design detail considers the realities of mass production, ensuring that Jetbus 3 remains visually refined, technically rational, and fully applicable in real-world manufacturing.

Evolution from Jetbus 1 and Jetbus 2
TJetbus 3 represents the culmination of lessons learned from the two previous generations—becoming more mature, more confident, and more focused in establishing a long-term design language. Key inspirations drawn from earlier models include the flat, vertically aligned bumper design first introduced in Jetbus 1, the inclined headlamp angle, the central lighting element that creates a smiling light signature, the upper side treatment developed into a sportier character, the use of rear glass and rear spoiler, and an overall balanced bus proportion that unifies the entire form.
